GSF use the expert services of employment consultation company Croner Consulting who cover all of our human resources. The purpose of this is so that GSF keeps up to date with all the changes in legislation.

We have an employee information binder which is available to all employees. We are an Equal Opportunities company, accredited to Investors In People.

We recruit mostly through advertising in national/local papers, the cleaning industry publications, shops, Job Centres, and most importantly our active in house training policies and IIP programme, ensures that we have potential people for supervisory posts as the Company grows.

GSF ensure all staff members provide their complete details (name, address and NI number) and we always follow up 2 references for staff, one character and one from a previous employer. For CRB checks, GSF use the Umbrella Body - Supply and Demand Recruitment.

Supervisors and above are taken through an annual appraisal to ensure that the Company has provided all the tools, training and support needed to meet the key requirements outlined in their job description. Also GSF encourage people to achieve promotion within the company - we are constantly looking for employees during their training who are potential Supervisor and Management material.

GSF offer a good rate of pay to attract the right kind of person. It is our intention to retain staff that achieve the standards we insist upon and to encourage them to develop their cleaning qualifications. Our experience has shown that on average a site of this size can have as much as a 10% absenteeism rate on a regular basis. In order to be able to maintain standards we would recruit an additional 5% of operatives than that shown in our pricing schedule to cover possible absenteeism. If, however, we are over-manned on certain days, we would utilise these personnel by carrying out any necessary periodic work.

Should the additional 5% of staff not be sufficient at any one time, then if agreeable with the client, some staff would work longer than their designated shift to ensure that our high standards are maintained.
